This seal is a compatible replacement for the Hayward original, supplied as the Cord Plug Seal for TigerShark Cleaner, Compatible with Hayward. In service it keeps water out of the motor side of the pump while allowing the shaft to rotate. Replacement is routine: the sealing faces score and leak, which lets water reach the motor bearings — a failure that destroys the motor if left unattended.
