This diffuser is a compatible replacement for the Hayward original, supplied as the Lower Diffuser with Laterals for S244T Sand Filter. In service it converts the velocity leaving the impeller into pressure and directs flow into the discharge. This is a consumable in practice: the sealing lip and locating tabs wear, letting water recirculate inside the pump instead of moving downstream. Ours is molded in reinforced thermoplastic and dimensionally checked against an OEM sample before tooling is signed off.
